The colorful illustrations by Pamela B. Christansen set the stage for Esseboe Kwami Nyamidie’s magical foray into the world of night creatures. His poem captures the sights and sounds of what goes on in the night, when we humans are asleep – “big-eyed owls” singing songs to the “shimmering stars,” “moonlit bugs” coming out to play, and the armadillo, hedgehog and porcupine also making an appearance.

This lovely children’s book creates a fantasy atmosphere but it’s also educational, a jumping off point to learn about nocturnal animals and “nature’s way.” This is a poetic trip into a beautiful world that children of all ages will enjoy over and over again. – Rosy the Reviewer
